A NIGHT AT THE BEST CLUB IN THE WORLD (Berghain, Berlin)

octubre 15, 2010

So, yeah. Ages without posting anything. But my absence has not been in vain.

Andarín Gallardo hasn’t stopped.

In fact, It’s gonna take a hell of a lot of living to stop me right now. I don’t want to write a lot for this post. It is all about spending a night at what is undeniably the best club in the world: Berghain, Berlin.

This place can easily be summed up in three words: “Oh.” “Mein.” “Gott.”

I had heard a lot about it but there is simply nothing that can prepare you for the experience. I wouldn’t even want to write a detailed description of the place ’cause I’d rather just let people live their own version of my night.

Since there is a strict and infamous no photography policy at this club, I decided I would draw a very summed up version of Andarín Gallardo’s night of mayhem, debauchery,  Berghain. However, I found an amazingly detailed and accurate review of the place in case you are really interested.

Berghain is the epitome of Berlin nightlife and, in my mind, is a sort of rite of passage for anyone who looks forward to ever staying there to live. If you are let into the Berghain, and once inside you feel like everything going on feels somehow right and reasonable, then you are ready to be a part of this city. You are open, you are free, you are Berlin.

After spending a night at the Berghain and Panorama Bar, I can clearly picture Berlin standing defiantly in front of all the other nightlife capitals of the world and telling them: “Suck my Berghain, motherfuckers!”

Hey Andarín, muchisimas gracias por el link! These drawings are wonderful; something about the sketchy lines captures the movement and intensity of the place. I’m actually working on publishing some work that will focus on the Berlin techno scene (and Berghain in particular), so I might be in touch with you in the future about your artwork… Deviértete bien en Berlin!
